 Spice Girls comeback is not so welcomed
The Spice Girls’ comeback single is struggling to set the UK charts alight.
The group’s new song ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’ has only made it to a disappointing number 10 in the midweek UK singles chart after shifting just 5,278 copies.
All proceeds from the song are going to the BBC charity appeal ‘Children In Need’, but that hasn’t helped the girls come close to knocking Leona Lewis’ single ‘Bleeding Heart’ off the top spot this coming Sunday
A source said: “There was so much type surrounding the song but it has so far failed to match this in sales.
“However, there is still time for it to make a late surge for the number one spot.”
The Spice Girls made their live comeback at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, The reunited girl group – Victoria Beckham, Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C – stepped on stage as a five-piece for the first time in nine years to perform two songs at the annual event in Los Angeles.
The girls, dressed in tight military-style outfits, debuted new song ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’ and classic hit ‘Stop’ in front of a star-studded audience at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.
However, the group – who sang live at every concert of their 1998 world tour – lip-synced the two songs.

Reese Witherspoon has reportedly rejected Jake Gyllenhaal’s marriage proposal.
Jake popped the question during the couple’s recent romantic break to Rome, but Reese – whose divorce from Ryan Philippe was finalized in October – turned him down because she does not want to rush into another union. A source said: “Reese says it is just too soon after her divorce from Ryan to think about marrying again. She is madly in love with Jake, but her divorce just became final, and she doesn’t want to rush into anything.”
Jake planned a day filled with romantic gestures before he plucked up the courage to ask Reese to marry him.
The couple – who met on the set of their film ‘Rendition’ earlier this year – strolled around the Piazza di Spagna, walked up the Spanish Steps and visited the Trinita dei Monti. They then visited the Piazza Campo di Fiori for an intimate lunch. In the evening, Reese and Jake climbed up the Monte Mario hill, before dinning at the Zodiaco café – where the actor went down on one knee.

Rwanda waits for Paris, Paris shops in Tokyo
TOKYO, Japan (AP) – Socialite Paris Hilton may not be ready to head off to Rwanda to do good deeds, but she was up to judging a beauty contest in Tokyo on Tuesday.
Hilton and her younger sister, Nicky, played judges for the Miss Universe Japan contest, each selecting one finalist. Another 13 or so finalists will be selected next month.
Hilton has vowed since she got out of jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case that she will try to improve her bad-girl image. She had announced plans to do charity work in Rwanda this month for The Playing for Good Foundation, but later decided to postpone that trip.
Her appearance at a Tokyo fashion boutique to judge the contest packed the room with photographers and TV cameras, and gawking bystanders lined the street outside. “I love Tokyo,” Hilton said. “The shopping is great.” Japan has the reigning Miss Universe, Riyo Mori. Mori is the first Japanese to win the pageant since 1959.

When Ugly Betty star America Ferrera told Total Request Live last month that Hollywood’s out-of-control young things should stop partying and “get a job,†she probably didn’t mean a job on her own show. Or did she?
According to a source on the set of Betty, which airs on ABC, cast and crew have been excitedly gossiping that embattled actress Lindsay Lohan is in “serious talks†to take on the role of a fallen beauty queen who takes a gig as the assistant manager of the fast food chain where Betty’s dad toils.
“Everyone’s very excited,†the source said. “Of course it brings a lot of attention to the show, and it’s a great part for Lindsay.â€
The role is apparently part of a three-episode arc during which Betty befriends Ms. Lohan’s character, who has fallen on tough times since high school. The ravishing redhead has had a difficult year herself, recently completing her latest stint in rehab at Utah’s Cirque Lodge after racking up two consecutive DUI’s this summer.
“It sounds really cute,†our spy burbled of the new opportunity, which of course might be jeopardized by the ongoing Writers Guild strike. “Betty tries to help Lindsay’s character by getting her a job at Mode, the fashion magazine where she works on the show.â€

Jack Nicholson, furious cuz Heath Ledger is the new Joker
Jack Nicholson is ‘furious’ Heath Ledger is playing the Joker in the new
Batman movie.
The 70-year-old actor, who starred as the villainous trickster in the 1989
film ‘Batman’, was livid he wasn’t asked to reprise his role for ‘The Dark
Knight’.
When asked how he felt about another actor playing the Joker,
replied: “I’m furious. I’m furious. [He laughs.] They never asked me about a
sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me.
“It’s like, in any area, you can’t believe the reasons things do or don’t
happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it’s
not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I’m .”
The Oscar-winning star also revealed he felt destined to play the Joker from
childhood when he fell in love with the DC comic book series.
He added to MTV: “Well, the Joker comes from my childhood. That’s how I got
involved with it in the first place. It’s a part I always thought I should
play.”
Nicholson doubts he will want to see Ledger in the role when the movie is
released next summer.
He said: “I’m not inclined to watch the movie because of what I said. But if
it’s a good movie, I’ll catch up with it somewhere.”
